How to update a construction from the library
Purpose
Section titled “Purpose”Bring a locked construction or building product in the project back in line with the library, for example because the library has been corrected, or because a newer version has arrived.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Validate against library is switched on in the building model’s View menu. It is on by default.
- The element is locked to the library. An element you have unlocked can no longer be updated from the library.
- Find the element in Building model. If it differs from the library, a status icon appears on the row, for example “Data differs from the library” or “Newer version available”.
- Click the icon. The Update from library dialog opens and shows what will be changed before
anything is saved:
- the project’s version, and which library version it is compared against. You can choose a different version in the picker
- the climate figure (GWP) per module, project and library side by side
- what changes: rows that change version, are added, are removed, or get their amount, lifespan or other line details corrected.
- To see what the update means for the whole building, click Calculate the building’s figures. The dialog shows the building’s climate impact per m²/year now and after the update.
- Click Update from library (or Upgrade to version … if you have chosen a different version).
If the element sits inside a larger construction from the library, it cannot be updated on its own: the construction above it determines its version and data. The dialog then opens for that top construction, with your row highlighted.
Updating several at once
Section titled “Updating several at once”At the top of Building model, Update all from library (N) appears when there are locked elements whose data differs. Under More actions next to it sits Upgrade to newest version (N). Both open the same dialog with a list of the constructions and building products that will be updated. Clear the tick next to the ones that should not be included, and click Update the N selected (or Upgrade the N selected). While it runs you can click Stop: the construction currently in progress is finished, and the rest are skipped.
Result
Section titled “Result”The element and everything below it now follows the library. At the end, the dialog shows how many were updated, which had nothing to update, and which failed.
Whatever is not in the library is removed. A locked construction is updated as a whole. If you have added a row inside it yourself, and that row does not exist in the library’s construction, it is deleted by the update, along with everything below it. The dialog marks it as Your own addition, removed. To keep it, unlock the construction instead of updating it.
If a row cannot be updated, for example because the version does not exist in a library the project has access to, it is skipped, and the dialog explains why when you select it in the list.
