What is LCAbyg, and what can it do

What is LCAbyg?
Section titled “What is LCAbyg?”LCAbyg is a web-based tool for life cycle assessment (LCA) of buildings. It replaces the desktop program LCAbyg 5 (2023) and is used to document a building’s climate impact, typically in connection with the building regulation’s climate requirements (BR §298) or a DGNB certification.
In LCAbyg you build up a building model from building elements and building products, add operational energy and transport, and get the building’s total climate impact calculated, broken down by life cycle stage (A1-A3, A4-A5, B1-B7, C1-C4 and D). The result is compared against the building regulation’s limit values and can be exported for documentation.
What can it do?
Section titled “What can it do?”- Create and manage projects, alone or together with colleagues in your organization.
- Enter building assumptions, based on the core data from your project.
- Build a building model from building products and constructions, either from the official library, your organization’s library, or your own personal library.
- Import existing projects from LCAbyg 5
.lb5or from earlier Konto exports. - Calculate the building’s climate impact and see the result broken down by stage, building element and material.
- Compare against the building regulation’s limit values and against other buildings via benchmark.
- Lock and archive a version, and export documentation to the Danish Green Building Council.
