How to change a quantity, unit, or scaling factor

Purpose

Correct the quantity, unit, or scaling factor of a construction or building product in the building model.

Prerequisites

The element isn’t locked (see the box below).

Steps

1. Find the construction in the building model tree, and find the building product or sub-construction in its buildup table (Opbygning).
2. Click in the Quantity column, and enter the new value.
3. The unit can be changed in the Unit column. Which units you can choose between is determined by the conversion factors set on the building product, see How to set the unit, mass, and conversion factors for a building product. Without conversion factors, the building product can only be used in its declared unit.
4. If the actual building product differs from the EPD’s declared unit, for example an insulation board at double thickness, enter a Scaling factor in the Scaling column. The factor is multiplied onto all of the building product’s environmental indicators (GWP, AP, EP, ODP, POCP, ADP, and others) for this specific placement in the building model; an empty value corresponds to 1.0 (no scaling).

Result

The quantity, unit, and/or scaling is updated, and the contribution to the calculation is recalculated on the next Recalculate.

“Locked: from library.” Constructions and building products inserted from the library start out locked. You need to unlock them before the quantity, unit, or scaling can be changed directly on the locked element. See How to unlock a construction that comes from the library.
