Building model

The building’s constructions and building products, shown as a tree structured according to the project’s classification. See the full walkthrough in Build the building model and Add building products.

The page is split in two: the tree on the left, and a detail panel on the right for the element you have selected in the tree. The panel shows the element’s CO₂ per m²/year, its share of the building, a bar chart of the contribution and a table of the sub-categories.

Element Meaning
Search Searches name, guid, version and other metadata
View menu Toggles columns and display options on and off, see below
Expand/collapse all Opens or closes the whole tree
Refresh Reloads structure and calculation

The menu has three sections, and the number on the button shows how many options are switched on.

Section Options
Edit Include in calculation · Quantities · Lifespans
Show CO₂ · CO₂ share · Validate against library · Transport, construction site & operation · Building elements (groups) · Empty categories
Sort Own order · Alphabetical · CO₂ share

Which columns are shown depends on the View menu. By default they are:

Column Meaning
Element The construction’s or building product’s name
Quantity Unit depends on the construction, e.g. m² or pcs.
Unit The quantity’s unit
CO₂ share Share of the building’s total CO₂, excluding operation (B6)

Switching on Lifespans additionally gives you a lifespan column: it determines how often the building product is replaced (module B4), and if it is missing, replacement is left out of the calculation. Include in calculation gives you the checkbox that toggles the element in and out of the calculation.

Validate against library is switched on by default, and your choice is remembered for next time, like the other View options. Switching it off to skip the heavy validation stays off on your next visit, until you switch it on again yourself.

Click Add in a category to choose between Create construction (from scratch) or Insert from library (official, organization or personal library).

Constructions inserted from the library are locked: you can see them, but not edit their structure, lifespan or include-in-calculation checkbox, until you unlock them. The lock is inherited by child elements.
