Building model
The building’s constructions and building products, as a tree structured according to the project’s classification. See the full walkthrough in Build the building model and Add building products.
At the top, a module strip shows which life cycle modules the project’s calculation mode includes, so the figures on the page can be read in the right context. Click the strip to open the module diagram, the same one as on Building and operation.
Next to the strip, Display basis chooses whether the page’s CO₂ figures are shown Incl. A4 or Excl. A4 (transport to the construction site). The choice only affects the display here: key figures, charts, shares and the tree’s CO₂ share column follow it, while the calculation itself, the result table and the limit values are unchanged.
The page is split in two: the tree on the left, and a detail panel on the right for the element you have selected in the tree. The panel shows the element’s CO₂ per m²/year, its share of the building model, a CO₂ contribution bar chart and a table of the contents. The chart can show the contribution in the building or per unit, distributed per module or per category, and can be turned to horizontal bars with a button. If you right-click a row in the tree, the row’s Actions menu opens at the pointer.
Toolbar

The View menu
Section titled “The View menu”The menu has three sections, and the number on the button shows how many options are switched on.

Columns
Section titled “Columns”Which columns are shown depends on the View menu. By default they are:

If you switch on Service lives, you also get a service life column: it determines how often the building product is replaced (module B4), and if it is missing, replacement is left out of the calculation. Include in calculation gives the tick that switches the element in and out of the calculation.
Validate against library is on by default, and the choice is remembered for next time, like the other View options. If you switch it off to save the heavy validation, it stays off next time until you switch it on yourself.
The buttons at the top
Section titled “The buttons at the top”The buttons only appear when there is something to do.

Both library actions also cover building products on the consumption lines, that is transport, construction site and operation. Building products with a broken library link are not included: they have to be fixed individually. See How to update a construction from the library.
Not classified
Section titled “Not classified”Constructions that have no category in the project’s classification, for example after a change of classification, sit together in a yellow group, Not classified according to the classification. They are not included in the calculation and cannot be edited, only moved (for example with Cut and Paste) or deleted. The Classify… button in the group opens a dialog where you drag them onto the right category, see How to change classification.
Add a construction
Section titled “Add a construction”Click Add in a category to choose between Create construction (from scratch) or Insert from library (official, organisation or personal library). Constructions can only sit in a leaf category, that is one without sub-categories. If you insert from the library under a building part, the library only shows constructions for that building part, with a chip you can remove to see them all.
“Locked: from library”
Section titled ““Locked: from library””Constructions inserted from the library are locked: you can see them, but not edit their composition, service life or include-in-calculation tick until you unlock them. The lock is inherited downwards by the elements below, and each locked construction has a line down the left side of the tree, so you can see how far it reaches.
Other markings in the tree
Section titled “Other markings in the tree”- Standard: a standard value for technical installations. It sits inside the category it replaces and is read-only. If a standard value is missing, or is there one time too many, it says so on the row.
- A special condition icon appears on rows that are part of a special condition. Click it to open Special conditions.
- A red dot next to a category means there is an error further down. Expand it to see which.
