Glossary (da / en)

Technical terms from LCA and LCAbyg, with the English label used in the app’s user interface. The same source as the term base the guide’s translations are based on: verified against frontend/src/locales/da.json and en.json in the app, not guessed.

A1-A3 · Produktion	Product stage	The first three life cycle modules: raw material extraction, transport to the factory and manufacture of the building product.
A4 · Transport til byggeplads	Transport to construction site	The transport of the building product from factory to construction site.
A5 · Byggeproces	Construction/installation process	The construction work itself on site: installation, waste and the construction site’s energy consumption. See What belongs to the construction site (A5)?.
B1-B7 · Anvendelse	Use stage	The seven modules covering the building’s use phase, from ordinary use (B1) to operational energy (B6) and operational water (B7).
B4 · Udskiftning	Replacement	Replacement of a building product when its service life is shorter than the study period. See Reference period and service lives.
B5 · Renovering	Refurbishment	The module used to model a renovation as an event in the middle of the study period.
B6 · Driftsenergi	Operational energy use	The building’s energy consumption for operation (heating, cooling, ventilation and so on), calculated across each year of the study period.
Beregningsmodus	Calculation mode	Determines which life cycle modules are included in a calculation, different for BR23, BR25 and DGNB.
Betragtningsperiode	Reference study period	The number of years a calculation covers, typically 50 years. Used to determine when building products have to be replaced, and to distribute operational energy consumption. See Reference period and service lives.
Bibliotek	Library	Reusable content (building products, constructions) in three types: Official, Organisation and Personal, each with its own rules for who may view and edit. See The library types.
BR23 / BR25	Danish Building Regulations 2023 / 2025	The editions of the Danish building regulations that set climate requirements for new construction.
Byggevare	Building product	The smallest unit in the building model: a specific material or product, typically with an EPD or a generic emission value attached.
C1-C4 · Bortskaffelse	End-of-life stage	The four modules covering demolition, transport, waste processing and disposal at the end of the building’s service life.
Conformity check	Conformity check	The check the Danish Green Building Council performs on a submitted project version, against a locked copy of the calculation. See Conformity check.
DGNB		The Danish sustainability certification system, which has its own calculation mode with different module requirements than the building regulations.
EN 15978		The European standard for environmental assessment of buildings, in which the life cycle stages (A1-A3, A4-A5, B1-B7, C1-C4, D) are defined. The basis for LCAbyg’s entire calculation method.
Egenproduktion	On-site energy generation	Energy the building produces itself, for example via solar panels. What is not used immediately is exported and accounted for in module D.
Emissionsdata	Emission data	The environmental impact attached to a building product: either as one combined factor or as one factor per year, which requires interpolation. See Emission data.
Energitillæg	Energy addition/supplement	A supplement from a BE18 calculation, which requires two energy framework calculations to be accounted for correctly. See Energy supplements from BE18.
EPD	Environmental Product Declaration	A documented, verified data set for a building product’s environmental impacts.
Ex-faserne		The designation for the life cycle modules used to model demolition of existing building products, separate from B4C. See Demolition of existing building products.
Filformater		LCAbyg imports and exports via three formats: .lb5 (LCAbyg 5), Konto JSON and .lcabyg.json (LCAbyg). See The file formats.
Generisk data	Generic data	Average-based emission data, used when no specific EPD has been chosen. See Generic data vs. specific EPDs.
Grænseværdi	Limit value	The maximum climate impact (kg CO₂-eq/m²/year) a building may have in order to comply with §298.
GWP	Global Warming Potential	The most central environmental indicator in the climate requirement: the building’s contribution to global warming, measured in kg CO₂-eq.
Kladde	Draft	A library version that has not yet been published, and is therefore invisible to everyone else. See Published and draft.
Konstruktion	Construction	An assembly of building products (for example a wall build-up) that can be reused across building elements and projects.
LCA	Life Cycle Assessment	The systematic accounting of a building’s environmental impacts across its whole service life.
Levetid	Lifespan	The number of years a building product is expected to last before it has to be replaced (B4). See Reference period and service lives.
Låst data	Locked data	Data that cannot be edited directly in a project because it originates from a library. See Locked data.
Modul	Module	One of the standardised life cycle steps from EN 15978 (for example A1-A3 or B6), in which a calculation is accounted for.
Modul D		Benefits and loads beyond the system boundary: reuse, recovery and energy recovery. Reported separately and does not count towards the limit value.
Nedrivning	Demolition	Disposal of an existing building or building product, modelled with the Ex stages and B4C. See Demolition of existing building products.
Opvarmet etageareal	Heated floor area	The building’s total heated area. Used for the energy framework calculation. Not to be confused with the reference area.
Organisationsrolle	Organisation role	The role a user has in the organisation (for example owner or member), separate from access to the individual project. See The two access systems.
Projektadgang	Project access	The three levels a user can have on a single project: project owner, editor or read-only. See Project owner, editor and read-only.
Publiceret	Published	The status a library version gets when it becomes visible to others than the creator. See Published and draft.
Referenceareal	Reference area	The area the limit value (kg CO₂-eq/m²/year) is calculated from, weighted according to §297 subsection 5. Not the same as heated floor area.
Renovering	Refurbishment	In LCAbyg this can mean three different things depending on the context.
Standardværdi	Standard value	A predefined emission value for technical installations, used when no specific data has been entered.
Særlige forhold	Special conditions	A category for impacts that do not fit into the ordinary building model. See Special conditions.
Version	Version	A given state of a library item or a project, fixed at a point in time, decisive for both conformity check and library management. See Versioning library content.
