Demolition of existing building products: the Ex stages and B4C
A building product marked for demolition is a building product that already exists in the building at the project’s start, and which is removed as part of the project, as opposed to a building product that is only installed later, see Delayed start.
A1-A3 is skipped entirely
Section titled “A1-A3 is skipped entirely”If a building product is marked for demolition, its A1-A3 (production) is not calculated at all. That makes sense: the building product was not produced as part of this project, it was already there.
The disposal is moved to the project’s start
Section titled “The disposal is moved to the project’s start”A building product that is not demolished has its disposal (C3, C4, D) calculated in the last year of the study period, when its service life is over. A building product that is demolished without a delayed start instead has its disposal calculated immediately, in the project’s start year, because the demolition does of course happen right away.
Combined with delayed start
Section titled “Combined with delayed start”If a demolished building product is at the same time set to be removed at a later point than the project’s start, that is, a combination of demolition and delayed start, the disposal is moved to the delayed year instead of the start year. If the delayed year coincides with the last year of the study period, the situation is equivalent to normal disposal at the end of the period.
