How to change classification, and what it costs
Purpose
Section titled “Purpose”Change the classification system that structures the building model, and understand what it means for the constructions before you do it.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”You are on Building and operation, in the Building card.
- Find the Classification field.
- Choose the new classification system (e.g. LCAbyg 5).
- Read the Change classification? dialog: it counts up what the change means for your particular building model, see below.
- Click Change classification to go through with it, or cancel.
What it costs
Section titled “What it costs”There is no automatic mapping between two classification systems. The dialog therefore shows up to three figures, counted from the building model:
- Constructions that are stranded: they keep their category in the old classification, but appear under Not classified according to the new one in the building model and are not included in the calculation until you classify them.
- Constructions that fall back into place: if a construction already has a category in the new classification, for example because you are changing back to one the project has used before, it lands there again.
- Standard values: are moved automatically to their place in the new classification.
If the building model is empty, the dialog says the change does not affect the calculation.
Change classification early in a project if you can. Every stranded construction is left out of the result until it is classified again.
Classifying the constructions again
Section titled “Classifying the constructions again”In Building model, the stranded constructions sit together in a yellow group, Not classified according to the chosen classification. The constructions in the group cannot be edited, only moved or deleted. The quickest route is the Classify… button in the group, which opens the Classify constructions dialog:
- Drag a construction, or a whole folder, from the left onto a category on the right. You can also click: select on the left, and click the category on the right.
- Only the leaf categories, those without sub-categories, can receive constructions. The others are groupings you expand to reach them. Expand all and Collapse all work in both sides of the dialog.
- Click Apply. Nothing is saved until you do.
If a standard value sits in the group, it is not moved in the dialog. Turn the standard value off and on again under Building and operation, and it lands in the chosen classification.
Result
Section titled “Result”The building model is structured according to the new classification. Constructions that already have a category in it count straight away, and the rest count once you have classified them.
